What is New?

Canada now has a professional designation for evaluators.
The designation is "Credentialed Evaluator".

The designation is available for members of the Canadian Evaluation Society who have a membership number.

The qualifications are as follows:

  1. Have a degree or certificate; AND
  2. Two years FTE work experience in program evaluation; AND
  3. Demonstrate the relevance of education AND experience to the five domains of Competencies for Canadian Evaluation Practice (PDF)

You may apply for the designation as early as January 2010. A grandfathering clause will allow current CES members (membership list of June 2009) to obtain the designation with an undergraduate degree and 5 years of experience. They should however demonstrate knowledge of the competencies, standards and ethical guideline. This provision will likely be available for 6 month from January 2010.
